Emily is tiny and unseen, like a seed in the ground. But when I paint, I feel powerful, like a gardener, who has control over her little gardens. I want to see and grow beauty, happiness and abundance. I'm overwhelmed by the endless logic and equations layered beneath what life consists of. Sometimes I feel like I have bags of angry resentment that want to turn into butterflies. At other times I have thoughts like gusts of wind that pick me up and swirl me around never knowing where I’ll end up. The paradox is in accepting surrender to win, giving up to develop, always concentrating on the next step and trusting that my little plants will be strong to survive on their own and tell their stories.
